Dr. Shaikh is a Harvard Medical School–trained, board-certified psychiatrist with a passion for helping children, adolescents, adults, and older adults with their mental health and well-being. He specializes in mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, and addiction, and has deep experience with ADHD, learning differences, and autism spectrum disorders in children and teens.

He completed his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship in the Department of Psychiatry at Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, and his general psychiatry residency at West Virginia University's Charleston Area Medical Center. From 2011 to 2015 he served on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine as a team leader and attending psychiatrist at The Menninger Clinic, where he led the adolescent, young adult, and Professionals in Crisis programs, and ran outpatient child and adolescent clinics for Texas Children's Hospital and Harris Health.

Today, alongside his practice, he serves as medical director of the psychiatry consult service at Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Huntsville Memorial Hospital, and as medical director of adult and geriatric psychiatry at Aspire Hospital. He has previously directed the adolescent unit at Woodland Springs Hospital and child and adolescent psychiatry at Nexus Children's Hospital, and is an attending psychiatrist at Encompass Health in The Woodlands. He is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, with published research on sleep disorders and ADHD treatment.

Sharina earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman's University in 2017 and is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She sees patients age 6 and up for psychiatric evaluation and medication management, and is known for creating a safe, caring environment that supports lasting mental well-being.

Jennifer is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with a background in nursing before advancing to psychiatric practice. She provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for patients across the practice, working closely with Dr. Shaikh on every treatment plan.

Alexy is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner who joined HPA Psychiatry in 2026. She provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and ongoing follow-up care, with a calm, collaborative approach that helps patients feel heard from the first visit.

Shayna is a board-certified nurse practitioner with a background in adult and geriatric acute care in the Texas Medical Center. She brings that hospital experience to psychiatric medication management at HPA, with particular attention to patients whose mental health and medical conditions overlap.
